Feature Story : Wisdom From the Cubicle
Published 25 Jan 2002 ~ revised 14 Jun 2002
On my current project, I work in an office comprised entirely of cubicles. It's very depressing, and it makes me glad that I am not at this office full time. Anyways, the cubicles are blocked off, so there are four desks per cubicle block. I share a four- person cube with one other woman, so things are pretty quiet and not overly busy. The same cannot be said, however, for the block next to us - a full cubicle block, all older men. Did I mention all the people I work with are feds?
So every day (and sometimes more), my cubicle neighbors have some real debates. They tackle all the hottest issues, and don't quit until they've discussed every facet of the topic at hand. It really is amazing to me how much time they devote to solving the world's problems. I'm so sorry I didn't think of this sooner, but I've started documenting their best topics. Enjoy!
Update, 14 Jun 2002: My role on this project has sadly come to an end. Therefore, unless my next assignment is as exciting as this, the "Cubicle Wisdom" section will no longer be regularly updated.
